2019 - 2020
Entering into the second semester of this school year, it is hard understand how much our lives would change. Instead of preparing for parent teacher conferences, we were sent home on March 13, never expecting we would not return for the remainder of the school year.
Fortunately, since I teach at a one-to-one district where all students in grades 6 - 12 are issued a chrome book for educational uses, we were already a step in the right direction. However, being immediately thrown into the role of distance learning instructor proved to be much more difficult than I imagined. The analogy of building a plane while flying it is exactly the way this new teacher role felt.
While it was challenging, I found ways to be resourceful and provide lessons that could be shared with my students and when shared with other teachers, used for their students as well. Within a week, my teams of teachers had found ways for all us to share the work and provide the most meaningful instruction possible for our students.
